Blackpool and The Fylde College students visit Winter Gardens
Students from Blackpool and The Fylde College recently visited the Spanish Hall within Winter Gardens utilising an opportunity to have a “close up” look at what this prestigious scheme entails.
This NWCH project, procured through the Low Value Framework for Blackpool Council involves the refurbishment of the Grade 2 listed ornate ceiling and roof coverings.
The 22 students, all studying for a BTEC in Construction and the Built Environment, were given a guided tour by Colin Morris of Natural Finishes Ltd, a Blackpool based Ornate Master Plasterer and Site Manager Francesca Mason.
Framework Partner, Conlon Construction are currently completing the zinc roofing and patent glazing externally. Internally the works to the ornate plaster ceiling will be complemented with replica ‘clouds’ and 6 very large original lantern lights.
Neil Conlon, Divisional Director at Conlon said: “We are always pleased to invite the next generation of construction professionals on to our sites. The unique quality of workmanship on display above the Spanish Hall is testament to the abilities of the local supply chain. Hopefully today’s tour will inspire these young students to continue that tradition.”
