Creating sustainable educational estates; the time to act is now. How ready are you?
Less than 10,500 days and counting… that’s how long we have to reach 2050 net zero goals.
The education sector has a critical role to play, it is responsible for 2.1% of non-domestic building stock in the UK, but accounts for 5.7% of non-domestic energy use, according to a report by framework partner ISG.
Launched this month, ISG’s Sustainable Buildings Monitor provides data on emissions produced by the operation of commercial buildings, with a series of events exploring the findings and discussing our roadmap to net zero. The latest webinar, held in partnership with Education Estates® Online, will take place on May 26.
Jane O’Leary, Strategic Advisor – Education at ISG, adds: “By understanding the data, we can better support the sector cut its emissions, delivering solutions to champion energy efficiency, and take radical steps towards a sustainable legacy for our cities, towns and communities.”
The webinar, chaired by Jane, will see a panel of sector specialists discuss some of the initiatives already in place to address these figures, and what else needs to be done to meet net zero targets, ensuring that present and future generations can benefit from educational spaces that truly perform.
Jane will be joined by:
- Peter Kelly, Group Director of Sustainable Operations, ISG
- John French, Fellow and Senior Advisor, Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL), University of Cambridge
- Simon Clouston, Technical Director, WSP
- Neal O’Leary, Programme Director, 21st Century Schools and Colleges
