Fire crews revisit the scene of Wythenshawe Hall fire one year on
Following a devastating fire on the 15th March 2016, Manchester City Council, via the NWCH, have appointed Conlon Construction to carry out the first phase of the restoration works at Wythenshawe Hall. This first phase will focus on repairs to the external envelope to make the Hall weather tight in readiness for the next phases of restoration.
On the anniversary of the fire MCC invited the crews from Wythenshawe Fire Station to revisit the scene of the fire and see what progress had been made. The crews are currently utilising the scaffold, which has been erected to provide a protective ‘tent’ over the damaged roof of the hall, for Rope Rescue Scenarios.
White Watch Manager, Trevor Woods, said “This type of training is extremely valuable to us as a service, giving crews vital hands on experience and allowing them to exercise their skills.”
