Governance – How does the NWCH board work?

The NWCH is governed by a Board comprising members of public sector bodies across the North West.

As well as acting as the voice of our clients, they are instrumental in advising on each re-procurement exercise to ensure the frameworks fit future requirements.  Some of them will be involved in the tender document development and scoring. Board members should have a role in supporting the leadership, collaborative working and innovation within the industry. They should act as influencers of a positive change in the construction industry enabling delivery of the value for money agenda.

The Board meet quarterly and the agenda covers items such as re-procurement, market intelligence and framework performance.  The Managing Directors of the Framework Contractors are invited to meet with the Board after the main Board Meeting to share information and discuss issues.  This is led by the Chair of the Board, Jared Allen, Director of Capital Programmes at Manchester City Council.

Other Board members currently include representatives from Liverpool City Council, Cheshire Constabulary and Fire, Cheshire West and Chester Council, Blackpool Council, Cheshire East Council. University of Salford, Cumbria Council, STaR Procurement and the Nuclear Decommissioning Commission.

We are keen that all the sectors that the NWCH work within are represented on our Board, so if you are a Client interested in being involved, please contact Joanna Chomeniuk at j.chomeniuk@manchester.gov.uk or 0161 219 6213.
