Introducing our new intern: Andy Bentham
In late 2018, NWCH identified the need for a research project to be carried out independently from the main body of the Hub. The need identified consisted of research to look at the benefits of using a two stage procurement route within the industry and to publish a report to summarise the findings.
NWCH advertised the research internship to University of Salford students, shortlisted applications and conducted interviews with students. At the same time Galliford Try approached NWCH with a suggested name of a student who was part of their Graduate Programme. After a successful interview, Andrew Bentham joined the team: welcome Andy!
Andy Joined us in early March 2019, and will be with us until September 2019. He will be primarily based at the Chamber of Commerce for three days per week and supported there by Subrahmaniam Krishnan – Harihare. The funding for the internship will be shared between Southern Construction Framework (SCF) and NWCH. Andy will produce blogs giving regular updates of his tenure, and will also produce a final report around a hypothesis of ‘Does lowest price give best value to the client in an increasingly volatile market?’
Andy started studying Quantity Surveying after a brief spell in a Groundworkers Gang. However after a short while Andy moved on to Project Management.
Andy notes ‘Both Galliford Try and NWCH opportunities have made my university studies real, developing skills in several construction environments has had a huge impact for me. The influence and guidance I have received has been life changing, helping shape my career path and develop my skills and has given me the confidence to thrive in the construction industry well before I have finished university’
Best of luck to Andy, and welcome to the team.
