NWCH framework partner reaches finals for IHEEM contractor of the year award

After completing Aintree University Hospital on time and within budget, boosting “Friends and Family Test” scores and winning the HEFMA Project of the Year Award in May 2017, NWCH Framework Partner BAM Construction have recently reached finalist for the Contractor of the Year Award at the upcoming IHEEM Awards.

Delivered by BAM’s North West team, the £29million project, made up of various contracts over a period of five years, involved extensive refurbishment and new build extensions to create a new Urgent Care and Trauma Centre. The complex scheme involved transferring some departments to temporary facilities and ensuring that clinical activities continued uninterrupted throughout. The existing shell of the building was maintained, everything inside demolished and re-constructed, while both the adjoining ‘sides’ of the hospital remained live, within a very tight footprint close to the existing A&E Department.

Collaboratively with the client and significant engagement with many different clinical departments, an excellent, future-proof facility has been created within budget, that has significantly improved services whilst maintaining a high standard of care throughout construction. Patients receive better treatment, recovery and experience, staff work to maximum impact, with minimum stress, and nationally recorded “Friends and Family Test” results have improved.

NWCH will be exhibiting at the IHEEM Healthcare Estates conference on the 10th and 11th of November. Visit us on stand B28 or book into our procurement clinic with one of our framework management team at nwch@manchester.gov.uk
