Redrock Stockport delivers on learning and skills

Working in partnership with Stockport Council, Pulse Regeneration and The Apprenticeship Store on the delivery of the Employment and Skills Plan, 37 apprenticeship and 18 work experience placements were achieved on the Redrock site.

Procured via the NWCH and delivered by Wates, Redrock Stockport brings a new leisure destination to the heart of Stockport town centre. Anchored by a ten screen cinema, the scheme comprises of over 75,000 sq. ft. of leisure and retail floorspace together with a new 360 space multi-storey car park.

Apprenticeship placements with 737 Actual Weeks for Apprenticeships were achieved within the following areas:

  • Business Administration
  • Quantity Surveying
  • Scaffolding
  • Glazing
  • Civil Engineering
  • Brick work
  • Electrical Installation
  • Craft Apprenticeship

One of these apprentices, Shauna Ball, has been working towards Level 3 in Business Administration, which she has successfully completed. Shauna was recruited through the local Apprenticeship Store, and has developed her skills and confidence, supporting a number of construction talks and supporting the Wates Construction team in the site office. Shauna has since been taken on permanently by Wates. The Redrock site and apprentices can be seen in this video:

“Everyone at Wates has been totally engaged in delivering the best possible outcomes on learning and skills for the people of Stockport, and they have always gone above and beyond what we’ve asked for. They have been fantastic ambassadors for careers in construction by supporting a huge number of construction curriculum support activities” Richard Mortimer, Head of Learning and Employment, Stockport Council
