Works to commence on refurbishment of Wythenshawe Hall one year after the devastating fire
Short video of a recent visit by Manchester Fire Brigade one year after the devastating fire at Wythenshawe Hall.
Works are about to commence on the refurbishment of the hall by Conlon Construction who invited the Friends of the Hall and Local Councillors to meet with the fire brigade.
Around 50 firefighters attended the scene at the 16th-Century Hall in March last year to put out the blaze which took hold across the timber-framed building. The arson attack badly damaged the property including the roof. Conlon have won the first phase of the project which mainly consists of replacing the roof and making the building weathertight again.
The project, procured through the NWCH Low Value framework, will be project managed by Manchester City Council and overseen by Historic England. Buttress Architects and Thomasons Structural Engineers will both be playing significant roles in restoring this historic building to its former glory.
